This article incorporates three bodies of literature: Team effectiveness, team leadership, and board management. Based on integrating several theoretical perspectives, nine propositions are developed in relation to well-known board inputs, such as board size, leadership structure, board diversity, and the ratio of insiders/outsiders. It is suggested that CEO duality and firm size have negative relationships with level of shared leadership in boards while board members’ stock ownership, membership of women in board, board members’ average expertise and experience, and board members’ background diversity foster board shared leadership. It is also proposed that board size, the ratio of insiders/outsiders, and board members’ power vis-à-vis CEO power have non-linear relationships with board shared leadership. This paper proposes a new mathematical model for the CF problem considering aspects of production planning, namely inventory, backorder, and subcontracting. In this paper, for the first time, backorder is considered in cell formation problem. The main objective is to minimize the total fixed and variable costs, including the machine related costs, intercellular movements, deviation between the levels of cell utilizations, inventory, backorder, and sub-contracting costs. The presented mathematical model is validated using GAMS software, and various test problems are solved by Genetic Algorithm (GA) and Discrete Particle Swarm Optimization (DPSO) algorithm. The performance of the algorithms is compared with the results obtained by the GAMS. The results demonstrate, there is no significant difference between the results of algorithms. Finally, some sensitive analyses are carried out to analyze the effects of backorder and inventory holding costs. Government agencies, organized private sector, industrial associations and international institutions constitute ESAs in Nigeria and have been in the forefront of MSMEs’ development, through enabling environment. The study used a qualitative multiple case study by purposively contacting 56 SME operators in Matori, Lagos Industrial Centre for interview. Data were gathered from 30 firms that agreed to participate through structured interview and relevant documents. The content analysis of available information reveals the interaction of SMEs with regulatory agencies for certification. However, a performance appraisal of ESAs indicates that these agencies have been ineffective due to poor implementation resulting from challenges such as bureaucratic bottleneck, high costs of services, corruption, lack of infrastructure and inadequate staffing to mention just a few. The paper, therefore, recommends a change in value system, empowerment of ESAs, availability of MSMEs’ databases, effective communication and publicity, and consolidation of existing ESAs with duplicating roles for ESAs to be relevant in MSMEs’ developmentUniversity of TehranInterdisciplinary Journal of Management Studies (Formerly known as Iranian Journal of Management Studies)2981-079510420171201A Simulation-Based Optimization Model for Scheduling New Product Development Projects in Research and Development Centersارایه مدل بهینهسازی مبتنی برشبیهسازی جهت مدیریت و زمانبندی پروژههای توسعه محصول جدید در مراکز تحقیق و توسعه8839046410810.22059/ijms.2017.240381.672790ENSadeghShahbaziSchool of Industrial Engineering, College of Engineering, Alborz Campus, University of Tehran,

In the present paper, first, the mathematical model for the project activity scheduling problem has been presented with a job shop approach. Then, using the Arena 14 software, the simulation model has been designed. Consequently, a numerical example has been solved via running the model and using variance analysis in order to find a near-optimal answer in terms of earliness profits subtracted by tardiness costs, with the purpose of choosing the best prioritization rule for activities in research teams. In the numerical example, the results reveal that the FCFS method has the highest value of the objective function, and possesses a significant difference from the other methods. After determining the best method, different scenarios regarding the number of resources in the workstations which possess long waiting times have been analyzed, whereby the results show that doubling the number of resources in these workstations can improve the objective function towards a positive output. In addition, the results from the present paper reveal that, contrary to other optimization methods, there is no need for an exact mathematical model in simulation and one can achieve optimal results via a conceptual mathematical model. Therefore, this issue can facilitate the solution of optimization problems, provided that they can be changed to a simulation model. However, this model has some problems such as the infeasibility. Thus, this article studies infeasibility of the input-based super-efficiency model (because of the zero inputs and outputs), and presents a solution by adding two virtual DMUs with mean values (one for inputs and one for outputs). Adding virtual DMUs to Production Possibility Set (PPS) changed the basic super-efficiency model, so a new model is proposed for solving this problem. Finally, the newly developed model is illustrated with a real-world data set.University of TehranInterdisciplinary Journal of Management Studies (Formerly known as Iranian Journal of Management Studies)2981-079510420171201A General Dynamic Function for the Basal Area of Individual Trees Derived from a Production Theoretically Motivated Autonomous Differential Equationیک تابع پویای عمومی برای ناحیه پایه درختان حاصل از یک تولید نظری برگرفته از معادله دیفرانسیل مستقل9179286422510.22059/ijms.2017.235889.672717ENPeterLohmanderDepartment of Management and Economic Optimization, Optimal Solutions in cooperation with Linnaeus

The dynamically changing properties of trees affect environmental objectives and values of trees as raw material in the construction sector and in the energy sector. In order to optimize the management of forests, it is necessary to have access to reliable functions that predict how trees develop over time. One central property of a tree is the <em>basal area</em>, the area of the stem segment 1.3 meters above ground. In this paper, a general dynamic function for the basal area of individual trees has been developed from a production theoretically motivated autonomous differential equation. A closed form solution is derived and analyzed. Several examples of recent application of this function in Iran and Sweden are reported.University of TehranInterdisciplinary Journal of Management Studies (Formerly known as Iranian Journal of Management Studies)2981-079510420171201Incorporating Return on Inventory Investment into Joint Lot-Sizing and Price Discriminating Decisions: A Fuzzy Chance Constraint Programming Modelادغام بازگشت سرمایه موجودی در تصمیمات توام قیمتگذاری متمایز و تعیین اندازه انباشته: یک رویکرد برنامه ریزی محدودیت شانسی فازی9299596431610.22059/ijms.2017.230829.672615ENRezaGhasemy YaghinClothing Engineering and Management Group, Department of Textile Engineering, Amirkabir

Generally, changes to the original lot-sizing policy stimulated by market prices may impose remarkable deviation revenue throughout the supply and demand chain system. This paper examines how to set the channel prices and the lot-sizing quantities so that the potential maximal return on investment is gained under a differential pricing scenario involving a number of possibilistic constraints to deal with market-segmented price setting, marketing and lot-sizing decisions, concurrently. The model aims to maximize return on inventory investment (ROII). To solve the model, a fuzzy solution approach based on the novel credibility measure is developed. An efficient and tuned search procedure using particle swarm optimization is tailored to reach the solutions of the resultant non-linear crisp model. An illustrative example is also studied to demonstrate the practicability of the proposed mathematical model and its solution approach.
