Abstract

The working environment influences employees and their work outcomes, but its effects may vary for individuals. There are many conditional factors that change the way the environment is translated by individuals, while gender is one of the most significant. Building on these lines, the research endeavor is aimed at investigating the relationship between fun at work and employee voluntary communication behavior (EVCB), with moderating the role of gender of employees. Data for the current study is collected at two points of time using questionnaires, where all in all 337 responses are used for data analysis. The hierarchical regression results reveal that fun significantly influences EVCB, while the relationship is moderated by gender. The findings highlight that female workers display more response for fun than their male counterparts. Implications are drawn from the study findings and future directions are also given at the end.
