Mediating Role of Trust and Organizational Commitment in Relationship between Strategic Human Resource Management and Knowledge Sharing

Abstract

Main objective of this research is to investigate the impact of Strategic Human Resource Management hereinafter will be written as(SHRM practice) on Knowledge Sharing Behavior among faculty of Universities. This research also studies the mediating role of Trust and Organizational Commitment in relationship between SHRM Practices and Knowledge Sharing Behavior. Following the positivist paradigm this research adopts the quantitative research strategy and collects the date from 700 faculty members of leading universities of Pakistan through a self-administrative questionnaire. Structural Educational Modeling Technique through Smart Partial Least Square has been used to test the entire key hypothesis. Study revealed that SHRM practices are vital in creating Knowledge Sharing Behavior among faculty members, organizational commitment partially mediates the relationship among the said variables while Trust fully mediate the relationship between HR practices and Knowledge sharing behavior. These all variables have positive significant relationship will each other. Thus, this study will provide sufficient guidelines for HR policy makers and administration of public universities that how to make faculties committed with their institution and develop culture of knowledge sharing by adopting SHRM practices, while helping employees to have socio-emotional relationships so that trust can be developed among them.
