Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate how creative search capability helps promote innovation in private universities. In this study, the type of research is exploratory and thematic analysis method was used, which was done in three stages. First, we conducted an extensive Internet search to identify Iraqi private universities that have been operating for more than a decade. From the search results, 28 private universities were identified. Second, we conducted online interviews with 19 private university administrators representing institutions from five regions: South, Northeast, Center, North, and West. Third, we analyzed the factors of creative search capability that can facilitate innovation in private universities, and based on these insights, we identified the main factors of creative search capability in Iraqi private universities: innovation-based learning environment, interdisciplinary teams, platforms Innovation, research funding and access to information resources. These findings provide valuable insights into the literature on innovation in universities. Also, it increases our understanding of the effective mechanism of creative innovation search capability in private universities. Finally, it provides implications for policy makers in Iraqi higher education in terms of constructive engagement with and support for universities.
